About the Item
A tall and impressive pair of late French Empire period candelabra which have been converted into lamps. The candelabra are made of the finest quality chased patinated and gilded bronze. The tri-form patinated base supports a gilded middle section with lion's paw feet, on a further smaller patinated tri-form top section; this base supports a round ribbed tapered column richly decorated with gilt bronze on the top and bottom. Six curved and gilded candle arms attach to the top of the column. The candelabra were likely made in France in the mid/late 19thC or possibly earlier.
