Pair of Amber Reverse Cone Murano Table Lamps by Alberto Donà — Maestro Collection
A pair of table lamps crafted entirely in Murano at the Alberto Donà furnace. Each lamp features a substantial reverse-cone body in light amber glass; the ribbed profile is formed by blowing the hot glass into a mould, and the battuto finish on the grooves is cut later in the cold shop. This treatment creates a subtle interplay of transparency and opacity, giving the form a nuanced depth when illuminated.
The glass body is set between a hand-polished black Murano glass base and a brass spacer that lifts and separates the elements with clarity. The base is fully ground and finished in Donà’s workshop.
Alberto Donà’s studio is known for its exclusive potash–lime glass, whose composition produces richer, singular colors. The elevated refraction creates a perceptible depth in the material, reinforcing its status as a refined glasswork.
The lamps belong to the Maestro Collection, curated by Silvio Piattelli, who has worked in Murano for five decades. The name “Maestro” is given in recognition of the glassblower who executes the work. Each piece is signed by the executing Maestro, reflecting the true collaborative nature of Murano glassmaking, and, when applicable, also by the designer, acknowledging the shared authorship that defines the collection.

Alberto Donà
Alberto Donà, born in Italy in 1944, began working in the glass field at the age of 13 and became known for his ability with colors and creativity in generating unique combinations, hence his valued collaborations with important companies such as Venini, Saporiti that have relied on Donà for glass accessories. In October 2001, he had a one-man show at the Vassel Art Gallery in London. He was selected to furnish the lighting for the Hiroshima Memorial Museum.
