Pair of Deep Pulegoso Murano Table Lamps by Alberto Donà — Maestro Collection
A pair of table lamps created and hot-shaped at the Alberto Donà furnace, each composed of three angular, prismatic solid forms executed in a deep, richly textured pulegoso.
The dense constellation of bubbles—produced through the addition of tiny metal inclusions to the hot glass (puleghe, the Venetian term for straw-flecks)—comes alive when the lamps are lit, emphasizing the material’s tactile presence.
The design is intentionally modern and sculptural, allowing the bold texture to take center stage.

Alberto Donà’s studio works with its own potash–lime glass formula, renowned for yielding unusually rich tonalities and a heightened optical depth. This characteristic clarity and refraction enhance the sculptural presence of each lamp.
The lamps are part of the Maestro Collection, curated by Silvio Piattelli, active in Murano for over fifty years. The designation “Maestro” honors the glassblower responsible for the execution of the work. Each piece is individually signed by the executing Maestro and, when relevant, also by the designer, underscoring the shared authorship that defines Murano’s traditional craft culture.

Alberto Donà
Alberto Donà, born in Italy in 1944, began working in the glass field at the age of 13 and became known for his ability with colors and creativity in generating unique combinations, hence his valued collaborations with important companies such as Venini, Saporiti that have relied on Donà for glass accessories. In October 2001, he had a one-man show at the Vassel Art Gallery in London. He was selected to furnish the lighting for the Hiroshima Memorial Museum.
