DESIGNER
Jacques QUINET (1918-1992) was a Belgian cabinetmaker and designer, a leading figure in postwar French design. Trained as a wood craftsman, his research landed on an essential, sober and rigorous style in which care for materials and proportions was central. Alongside fine furniture-tables, seating, and storage units-Quinet distinguished himself above all by producing lamps, now highly sought after by collectors and galleries. Its lighting fixtures, made in brass, bronze or with lacquered inserts, are characterized by pure volumes, minimal details and seamless integration into modern living spaces. With these creations he succeeded in combining the French decorative tradition with a new aesthetic of light, understated and elegant, helping to define the image of French interior design between the 1950s and 1960s.
