About the Item
This is a fine example of a pair of French Antique , C.1850, Red Tole, Rocaille style Dore Bronze Bouillotte Lamps.
This pair bears the coat of armes of the original owners, please see photo.
The coat of arms shows that these were made during the French Second Empire (1852-1870)
After researching, I know now the original owner of this pair of lamps.
"Baron Gourgaud" was also a General during the French second empire.
This pair is all original, if it had not been electrified in the early 20th C.
The three candle candelabra base is in Dore Bronze and the design is what is called Rocaille, that was the fashion during the Louis XV period.
The candles are real candles..
The tole shades are adjustable.
There are bulbes to each lamp.
The original Rocaille flame finials are in Dore Bronze.
The Tole shades are Red with a Gold frieze all around.
This pair was recently rewired with a gold silk wire.
Very god Antique condition, consistent with age and use.
