About the Item

Monumental in presence and sculptural in form, this exceptionally rare pair of Murano “Ghost” lamps represents some of the most sophisticated Italian glassmaking of the 1970s. Hand-blown by the renowned Vetreria Vistosi, each piece is executed in dense, luminous opaline Murano glass whose biomorphic curves shift gracefully between light and shadow. Ethereal ribbons of clear glass run organically through the silhouettes — a natural result of master-level craftsmanship, giving the lamps extraordinary depth, clarity, and sensuality when illuminated. One lamp retains its original Vetri Murano VM label, an increasingly scarce mark of authentic Venetian production. While clearly conceived as a pair, the lamps exhibit slight differences in posture and curvature, underscoring their artisanal origin and making them feel more like two companion sculptures than conventional lighting. Both pieces remain in superb, collector-grade condition, free of chips, cracks, or repairs, and possess significant weight and scale. Photographed with standard bulbs, the lamps can be tailored to your desired ambiance — they accommodate different bulb heights and shapes for a customized glow. For convenience, they will arrive with new warm off-white LED bulbs, and have been professionally wired for North American use, ready for immediate installation. Acquired directly from their original owner, who purchased them in Italy in the 1970s, pairs of this model are extraordinarily difficult to source, especially in such pristine, documented condition. Their commanding presence positions them at the intersection of Italian Mid-Century Modern, Space Age design, and sculptural art glass — ideal for a refined interior, collector’s gallery, or architectural residence seeking a museum-worthy Murano statement piece. All orders are meticulously packed and shipped within 24–48 hours.
