About the Item
This rare and iconic Model 577 table lamp by Oscar Torlasco for Lumi Milan is a testament to the refined design ethos of the 1950s. Featuring a square conical base in black-painted brass with wrinkle paint and a built-in transformer, it combines style with functionality. The brass stem supports a conical tubular brass shade, partially painted black, and fitted with a glass optical lens for adjusting light intensity and focus. A chrome-plated stem with a decorative black round handle crowns the design, adding a touch of elegance.
Other notable features include a Bakelite E14 lampholder and a lens mechanism that allows precise control over the illuminated area—hallmarks of Torlasco's innovative approach to lighting design.
Measurements: 8 x 23 x 39 cm (H).
Born in Rome in 1934, Oscar Torlasco became renowned for his lighting designs, particularly those for Lumi Milan. His work reflects a mastery of form and function, culminating in his receipt of the prestigious "Compasso d’Oro" award in 1959.
Condition: Good vintage condition, consistent with age and use. Completely original. A slight stain on the brass adds character to its patina. Fully functional and ready to grace any desk or side table.
