Lovingly handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from a pair of vintage Royal Boch Delft Polychrome vases (circa 1968–1975), these one-of-a-kind table lamps celebrate the rich tradition of European faience with a vibrant mid-century twist. Each vase features a classic baluster form, hand-painted in a deeply saturated cobalt blue with a subtly purplish undertone — the dominant color that anchors the overall palette. Within baroque cartouches and floral bands, artisans painted expressive botanical motifs in shades of terracotta orange, sunny ochre, leafy green, and soft plum, all outlined in dark cobalt to heighten contrast and movement. These vases bear the mark “Polychrome Boch Belgium – Handworked,” Royal Boch’s term for its hand-painted decorative wares. The visible brushwork and minor variations in each motif confirm their artisanal origin, preserving the expressive quality that distinguished mid-century faience from mass-produced ceramics. Produced during a period when Royal Boch sought to revive 17th-century ceramic aesthetics for modern interiors, these pieces blend historical reference with the boldness of Belgian mid-century design. The ceramic bases are paired with custom lavender velvet lampshades, handcrafted in a local atelier near Amsterdam and finished with matching fabric-covered cords.
