About the Item

Vintage Royal Delft White Ceramic Table Lamp with New Liberty London Fabric Shade handcrafted by Amitābha Studio, 1930s–1976. This one-of-a-kind lamp combines Dutch heritage with British design flair. The glossy white ceramic vase base, delicately ribbed and gently curved, was originally crafted by Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) in their Delfts Wit line—produced between the 1930s and 1976. The base is paired with a bespoke Liberty London lampshade, handmade using Catherine Rowe’s limited-edition fabric. The dark background bursts with intricate illustrations of spotted hares, dalmatians, pears, butterflies, birds and botanical forms in jewel tones—a whimsical pattern that adds depth and artistry to the piece. Lovingly reimagined by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam, the lamp preserves the integrity of the original Delft vase; no alterations were made. Its transformation highlights the sculptural purity of the ceramic form while introducing a distinctive, modern element through the richly patterned Liberty textile. About Royal Delft Royal Delft introduced its White Delft (Delfts Wit) range in the 1930s as a refined, undecorated alternative to traditional blue-painted Delftware. This line emphasized silhouette and craftsmanship over ornamentation. Production ceased in 1976, after more than 170 variations had been made, making surviving examples highly collectible today. Founded in 1653, Royal Delft is the last remaining 17th-century Delftware factory and remains a symbol of enduring Dutch craftsmanship. Its White Delft line is prized for its subtle elegance and sculptural clarity.

By Delft
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
This blue and white Chinoiserie ceramic table lamp features a vintage Dutch Delftware style vase with sculptural ribbing paired with a custom Chinoiserie lampshade, blending mid-century design with traditional Dutch ceramic heritage. The authentic Velsen pottery vase has been transformed into functional lighting that celebrates both Dutch and Asian decorative arts. The vase base displays distinctive vertical ribbing in white glaze characteristic of mid-20th century Dutch pottery. Its classic ginger jar silhouette exemplifies the Delfts Wit style—white glazed Delftware that developed alongside the more famous blue and white tradition. When illuminated, the smooth glaze creates beautiful ambient light diffusion. The new bespoke drum lampshade by Amitābha...
