Exquisitely handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from a vintage Royal Tichelaar Makkum Delft ginger jar, Lingzhi is a one-of-a-kind lamp that bridges Dutch heritage and refined artistry. This unique piece features a masterfully hand-painted design created between 1948 and 1965 by Mr. Jetze Kuipers, a renowned Tichelaar Makkum artist. The ginger jar’s polychrome motifs showcase a vibrant fantasy garden, where delicate floral details entwine with lingzhi mushrooms—a traditional symbol of longevity. Encircling the jar, this continuous pattern of blue, green, and russet shades comes to life on a luminous white tin-glazed backdrop, enriched by the jar's ribbed surface and lid that enhance the glaze’s depth and shimmer. The lamp was created without altering the original jar in any way. Lingzhi is crowned with a custom deep azure blue linen lampshade, meticulously pleated by hand in an atelier near Amsterdam. The shade’s rich color and elegant texture beautifully complement the jar’s intricate design, creating a sophisticated aesthetic suited to both classic and contemporary interiors. Crafted from one of the oldest ceramics factories in the Netherlands, Royal Tichelaar Makkum, this lamp is a symbol of Dutch heritage and craftsmanship. The Tichelaar family, spanning 13 generations, has preserved traditional Delftware techniques since the factory's founding in 1572 in the quaint fishing village of Makkum. Earning the Royal predicate in 1960 for its 300 years of excellence, the company is celebrated for fusing classic craftsmanship with modern design, an ethos perfectly embodied in this collector’s piece.
