About the Item
This unique Scandinavian Modern table lamp was crafted by Tilgmans Keramik in Sweden during the 1950s. The curvaceous earthenware base is hand-decorated in a sgraffito technique, showcasing a vivid yellow and blue butterfly against a backdrop of green, grey, and white leaf forms, accented by a red band at the foot. The surface displays a textured, almost etched look, with dusty, subdued tones giving it a soft, organic feel.
Painted on the underside is “Tilgmans, SJ” — the initials of artist Siv Jakobsson, a known contributor to the studio’s more expressive work. This piece stands out for its decorative quality and balance of color and form, making it a collectible example of mid-century Swedish ceramic artistry.
