About the Item
Striking pair of ceramic table lamps by French artist Dominique Pouchain, sculpted in his signature totemic style. Each lamp features a textured black ceramic body with a deep cobalt-blue glazed medallion, creating a powerful contrast between matte and gloss surfaces. The forms are distinctly anthropomorphic arched legs, crescent-shaped arms that also remind us of bull horns, and a ridged neck celebrating Pouchain’s sculptural approach to functional objects. Paired with new custom shades. Signature of the artist on the feet.

Dominique Pouchain (b. 1956) is a celebrated French ceramicist known for his sculptural, often anthropomorphic stoneware forms. The son of renowned potter Jacques Pouchain, he grew up immersed in the ceramic tradition of Dieulefit. His work blends primitive symbolism with contemporary expression, characterized by bold silhouettes, textured surfaces, and deep, luminous glazes. Pouchain’s ceramics ranging from vessels to large-scale sculptures and lighting are held in private and public collections worldwide and remain highly sought after for their dramatic, sculptural presence.
