About the Item

A striking silver-plated bronze table lamp, attributed to E.F. Caldwell Co., one of the most important American lighting firms of the early 20th century. Dating to around 1910, this piece sits stylistically at the crossroads of Art Nouveau and early Art Deco, blending graceful organic lines with the emerging structural elegance of modernism. The lamp's form features subtly stylized curves, fluid tapering, and geometric restraint—a vocabulary that speaks to the fading influence of Art Nouveau's sinuous naturalism and the rising popularity of Deco’s architectural clarity. The silver-plated bronze body reflects Caldwell’s signature dedication to material richness and precision casting, with a surface that glows softly under light and accentuates every contour. Founded in 1895, E.F. Caldwell Co. was known for producing some of the finest lighting and decorative metalwork in America, often working closely with top architects like McKim, Mead White.
