Sommerso Glass Lamp with Fish “Aquarium” by Alfredo Barbini, Murano, Italy
An exceptional table lamp attributed to Alfredo Barbini, one of the most influential Murano glass masters of the 20th century.
Made using the renowned “Aquarium” technique, this piece features a multicolored fish suspended in clear glass, surrounded by sculpted seaweed and an organic base in shades of green, all executed with the refined mastery characteristic of the Barbini workshop.
The effect of depth, volume, and movement within the glass block demonstrates the technical complexity for which Barbini is internationally recognized. The piece retains its original structure and is ideal both as a decorative lamp and as a sculptural object.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
