Il produttore spagnolo di illuminazione Fase è stato fondato a Madrid nel 1964 dal designer industriale Pedro Martín. Martín ha inizialmente venduto le sue lampade in diversi mercati, prima di fondare la sua azienda di successo a Torrejón de Ardoz, alla periferia di Madrid. Negli anni '70, Fase è una delle più grandi aziende dell'industria manifatturiera spagnola e contribuisce all'economia dell'epoca. Fase vende illuminazione da oltre tre decenni in 32 paesi diversi, in particolare nel Regno Unito, Francia, Italia, Germania, Emirati Arabi Uniti, Giappone, Canada e Stati Uniti. I design di Fase early sono considerati moderni e presentano accostamenti originali di metalli, come il cromo e l'acciaio, con marmo e legno, in diversi colori vivaci. Le lampade sono spesso orientabili grazie a un sofisticato sistema di giunti mobili inventato dai primi designer di Fase, che diventerà presto uno dei tratti distintivi dell'azienda, insieme ai loro diffusori in vetro. I design di Fase degni di nota includono Boomerang 64, Boomerang 2000, 520, Faro e President, tutti pensati per essere stati progettati negli anni '60. emergendo dal periodo franchista, non ha familiarità con gli stili più iconici del XX secolo. Oltre a combinare materiali tradizionali come il legno con un'estetica modernista, Phase crea molte lampade in uno stile completamente modernista.
