About the Item

A refined Murano glass table lamp base by Venini, the most celebrated name in 20th-century Italian glass. The baluster-shaped body is blown in black glass with opaque white lattimo inclusions, producing a mottled “pebble” effect . A ball of molten glass was rolled across fragments of opaque white glass, which fused into the surface when reheated. The form was then blown and shaped, giving each piece a unique, organic pattern. At Venini during the mid-20th century, this traditional method was adapted for modern interiors in vases and lamp bases alike. This example retains its original Venini paper label with amphora silhouette and “Made in Italy” text — a mark documented from the mid-1950s through the 1970s, and an important indicator of authenticity. The lamp is finished with a brass collar and wired for a standard E27/E26 bulb. Shade not included. Founded in 1921 by Paolo Venini, the Venini glassworks transformed Murano traditions through collaborations with leading designers and architects, including Carlo Scarpa, Fulvio Bianconi, and Tobia Scarpa. Their postwar designs married centuries-old techniques with bold modern aesthetics, establishing Venini as a cornerstone of Italian design. An excellent example of mid-20th-century Murano glass lighting by Venini, combining traditional craftsmanship with a timeless modern form.

XXL Mid-Century Modern Gray and Orange Carstens Tönnieshof Ceramic Table Lamp
By Amitābha Studio, Carstens Tönnieshof
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Oversize Mid-Century Modern Fat Lava table lamp by Carstens Tönnieshof, West Germany, with new teal-gray and orange jacquard drum lampshade by Amitābha Studio. This oversized 38-inch table lamp (approx. 3 ft; 96 cm) is a commanding, sculptural presence—an authentic lava glaze table lamp remade as functional art. The vase base captures the high drama of late-’60s mid-century modernist West German pottery: a smoky blue-gray gradient dissolves into a glossy, molten band of vivid orange that flows over a cratered, black “lava” texture. The mix of matte, gloss, and bubbled surfaces shimmers like cooled magma. We’ve echoed that energy above with a custom extra-tall shade in textured jacquard by Linwood (UK), woven in Italy: a teal-gray ground embroidered with a coral-inspired chenille pattern in orange, finished with Houlès Paris trim and a matching orange fabric-covered cord. The result is an oversized West German fat lava lamp...

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form. Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century. To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated. This Spanish Revival lamp...
