About the Item
A perfect night stand lamp designed in 1969 by Sergio Asti and produced by Candle.
It is a first edition produced by the Candel company and not by Fontana Arte.
Composed of 2 opal glass hemispheres, it is inspired by the Japanese votive figure "Daruma".
"Daruma" is the founder and first patriarch of Zen and is depicted in small rounded wooden dolls, which thanks to their low mass center of gravity always remain standing even if they are pushed.
The fact that this doll always stands up makes it a symbol of optimism, constancy and strong determination.
This lamp has been included in the permanent collection of MOMA of New York.
