About the Item

Pair of Fully Marked Mario Botta Table Lamps, Italy, 1980s This exceptional pair of postmodern table lamps is fully marked and designed by Mario Botta, one of Italy’s most influential architectural and design figures. Bold, graphic, and architectural in form, the lamps exemplify Botta’s mastery of proportion and geometry translated into functional objects. Each lamp features a cylindrical base with striking black and cream horizontal striping, supporting a rectilinear stem and a dramatic, curved perforated metal shade. The layered, arched shade construction allows light to pass through in a rhythmic pattern, producing a warm, sculptural glow when illuminated and a strong visual presence when off. Adjustable shade elements provide flexibility for directional or ambient lighting. These examples elevate this pair into a collectible category, making them especially desirable for serious collectors of Italian postmodern design. Ideal as statement lamps on a console, credenza, or as a symmetrical pair flanking a seating area.
