About the Item
A wheel-turned ceramic table lamp designed by Annikki Hovisaari for Arabia, Finland, dating from the 1960s. The lamp features a tall, cylindrical stoneware base with a simple, well-balanced form characteristic of Finnish mid-century studio ceramics. Shaped on the potter’s wheel, the surface retains visible throwing lines that give the piece texture and a clear sense of the maker’s hand. Both functional and refined, the lamp reflects the quiet confidence and material sensitivity of Nordic design of the period.
The glaze is deep and nuanced, shifting between blue and warm brown tones that settle naturally into the horizontal rings of the clay. This subtle variation gives the surface depth, allowing the material itself to take focus. Original brass fittings add a warm, understated contrast.
The lamp is fitted with its original shade, made from a coarse, natural textile with a jute- or linen-like quality. The material complements the ceramic base beautifully, softening the light into an atmospheric glow.

A rare and highly collectable piece, it brings organic warmth and timeless Nordic character to both contemporary and more traditional interiors.
