Antique gilt hand carved lime wood wall mirror or floor mirror, circa 1870 Austria.
A magnificent and beautiful wall mirror, floor mirror or full length mirror from
gilt hand carved lime wood circa 1870 in the style and very similar to designs by
Thomas Johnson.
This museums worth floor mirror shows wonderful gilt hand carved elements with animals sculptures like a dog, squirrel and cranes as birds of happiness as well as tree branches as naturalistic elements.
The top is decorated with a bow tie. This bow tie element and the baroque rocailles points out to the Josephinische Stil, the end of the Habsburger Barock and corresponded to the start from Classicism.
Some elements lined from the frame show to the Historicism period.
This period started 1830 and lasted to the end of the 19th century.
Please draw your attention to the fine carved leaves, tree branches and birds.
This masterly work is truly one of the most beautiful wall mirrors with so much poetry.
The overall condition is very good with some signs of age as a beautiful desirable patina, some small parts are professionally restored and re gilded.
Please note, that this original and authentic wall mirror is from the period mid 19th century.
