About the Item

Found in a chateau in the Loire Valley, this nineteenth century French Regency style gilt wood mirror stands at an impressive eight feet in height. Its beveled glass is surrounded by scrolling and acanthus leaf detailing. A central cartouche with a scalloped shell adorns the top and is flanked by gadrooning leaves. The bottom corners of the mirror are additionally detailed with large acanthus leaves. This elegant mirror would be sure to make a statement in a bedroom or hallway as a floor mirror, or in a living space between two windows. c. 1860.
