An extraordinary and palatial Italian mirror of monumental scale, masterfully carved in wood and water-gilt in 22-karat gold. The bold arched form is richly adorned with sculptural ornamentation, including an expressive classical mask surmounted by a floral and foliate crest, framed by acanthus scrolls and diamond-pattern latticework.
The perimeter is articulated with architectural pilasters, finely detailed capitals, and relief-carved garlands, culminating in a grand, symmetrical composition of exceptional refinement. The gilding retains a soft, time-worn luster, enhancing the depth of carving and the mirror’s stately presence.
