About the Item
Grand Antique Italian Neoclassical Inlaid Mirror is a spectacular example of timeless style on a large scale! Stretching over seven feet in width, it is perfect for a big fireplace mantel, a large console or buffet, or just on the wall to give the illusion of a larger room. This stunning mirror was hand-crafted by master artisans using techniques handed down from generation to generation. Starting at the top, the overarching crown molding features subtle tones of inlay creating a repeating foliate bordering motif, separated by an ebonized trim from the main bonnet below, lavished with meticulously detailed floral and foliate motifs created in satinwood and inlaid into the mahogany background, then given a two-toned French style border. Another ebonized trim extends across the entirety to define the mirror section underneath. At the center is the largest mirror, beveled for an opulent effect. The center mirror is separated by pilasters from the side mirrors each of which consist of eight square panes joined with brass pins, in a uniquely Italian style. The base is almost a mirror image of the crown above, with the same motifs yet executed on a slightly different, although completely complementary, style.
