This elegant wall mirror dates from the German Biedermeier period around 1830 and is a fine example of early 19th century craftsmanship. The mirror is veneered in walnut over a softwood carcass and features a well-proportioned rectangular form with a restrained architectural presence typical of the Biedermeier style. The veneer displays a lively and symmetrical grain pattern, particularly visible on the upper frieze and base panel, adding visual depth without excessive ornamentation.
The mirror originates from Germany, Mainz, and is attributed to the mirror maker Franz Xaver Rieffel, who was active in the region during this period.
