About the Item
A stately northern Italian early 19th century Empire st. patinated Mahogany and Giltwood mirror. This stunning Mahogany mirror is decorated with a Giltwood string of laurels at the bottom, leading to cups on the left and right. Each mount holds a Mahogany tapered column leading up each side of the mirror plate and finished with carved a sphinx. The mirror plate it surrounded by a fine Giltwood foliate border and delicate Gilt pins. The top of this most impressive mirror is adorned with Giltwood garlands, a ribboned laurel crown and winged torches.
