About the Item
On offer is a highly decorative, antique pier mirror with an integrated jardiniere or planter base. This combination was especially popular in the 19th century for adding light, a touch of nature and especially, a sense of grandeur. One might place this duo in an entry hall, where it would be especially appreciated for a quick last look before leaving. Or locate it between a set of tall windows, adding to the sense of space.
Richly detailed with mother-of-pearl and brass inlay, the mirror is made with beveled glass, and the jardiniere retains its original metal insert, useful for live plantings. An additional cornice piece, part of the original suite of furniture, is included.
