A striking French sunburst mirror from the 1930s–1940s, crafted in carved wood and finished in a warm gold gilt. Measuring approximately 18 inches in diameter, this decorative wall mirror features a dramatic arrangement of elongated rays radiating from a small circular center — a classic representation of the sun motif popular in French decorative arts.
The center mirror is set within a molded round frame, surrounded by carved, hand-gilded rays of varying lengths that create depth and movement. The tips of the rays show gentle irregularity, consistent with hand carving, and the gilt finish has mellowed over time to a rich, matte tone with areas of age-appropriate wear. The back retains its original wood panel and a metal hanging bracket for wall mounting.
