About the Item

A rare and large 'a treccia' (braided) coloured glass vanity mirror by Seguso, Murano, Italy, c.1940. Intertwined strands of coloured, molten glass are carefully worked by hand to create a braided effect that runs around the perimeter of the curvaceous mirror, giving the piece depth and subtle movement. This coloured example, in a dark yellow or amber tone, is particularly rare and demonstrates the technical and artistic precision that made Seguso one of Murano’s leading glassmakers in the early 20th century.
