This elegant antique Trumeau mirror was crafted in France circa 1850. The wall-hanging piece features a finely painted pastoral scene on canvas depicting fishermen along a tranquil river, with a rustic farmhouse and leafy trees in the background, and distant mountains under a soft sky. The artwork, executed with delicate tonal variations and atmospheric depth, exemplifies the serene rural charm of 19th-century French landscape painting.
The scene is set within the original carved giltwood frame, richly molded with ribbed and beaded borders, and retains its original mercury glass mirror below. The frame displays a beautifully aged patinated gold leaf finish, enhanced by its original wood panel backing for structure.
