A striking and most elegant Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. patinated and giltwood trumeau mirror. The trumeau retains its original mirror plate set within a striking richly carved giltwood palmette and mottled designed band. Impressive column-like supports lead up each side with a stunning array of pierced richly carved scrolled foliate designs amidst palmettes and cornucopias. Above each column are superb open winged eagles flanked by two abundantly scrolled cornucopias. The exceptional top crown displays a beautiful and most elegant shape with an intricately detailed hand painted plaque at the center of maidens draped in flowing garments while dancing and flanked by finely carved wreaths and palmettes with lovely scalloped shaped top borders with additional scrolls and palmettes. All original gilt and patina throughout.
