About the Item
This large Louis XVI style trumeau mirror, circa late 1800's from France, has generous proportions which make it a commanding presence.
The fine, decorative carving,at the top section of the Trumeau, details symmetrically, intertwining leaves and flowers around the classical motif of an urn. The carvings are highlighted in a water gilt work, original to the piece, and still in tact, creating a beautiful lustre as it is in such good condition for its age. The frame's background is painted in a very old white which has deepened over time to become slightly warm green/grey in colour.
The original mercury glass has also survived and is a little aged and mottled adding authentic depth and charm to this antique piece.
