About the Item

This late eighteenth century Louis XVI period painted trumeau mirror originally hung above the mantel in a grand French manor house. Hand-carved with a crossed torch and quiver, clarinet, and leaf motif suspended from a knotted ribbon at the top, this narrow trumeau with original glass measures six feet in height with only a 30 inch width. An egg and dart pattern and cabled beading pattern frame both the mirror and the upper carved section. This refined mirror would make a stunning addition to a Gustavian home decor. c. 1780.
