About the Item
This late nineteenth century French Louis XVI style trumeau mirror features its original mercury glass and oil painting above. The mirror is detailed with gilded borders of a rais-de-coeur pattern and beading that surround the mirror and painting. The painting depicts a pastoral scene of a shepherd and shepherdess with a sheep next to a stream. With a painted off-white patina, this trumeau is sure to make a statement above a mantle or buffet. The mirror measures 48 inches wide and 51 inches wide at the cornice. c. 1890.
