About the Item

Wonderful 17th Century Italian ebonised Guilloché mirror with carved ripple moulding. Luigi XIV, Piedmont. The rectangular plate within a cushion frame of convex and carved ripple moulding. Minor age related wear, including signs of old worm, cracks and splits but very much commensurate with the mirror's age. The overall construction is solid and stable. The decorative ripple panels are crisply carved and remain in excellent condition. The mirror plate appears to be original, the mercury plate has a lovely smoky colour with spotting and scratching to the reverse. Overall dimensions: 58x54 Mirror plate: 23x28 cm
