About the Item
Baroque period gilt wood mirror, a masterful example of early 18th century craftsmanship. The faded gilded frame features two intricately carved cherubs "holding" the mirror plate, enrobed in swags and drapery they add a playful and elegant touch to the whole. The patination and faded original gilding create a dramatic grandeur and encapsulate the opulent style of the Baroque era.
Original gilding, wonderfully wobbly period mirror plate.
Losses to each cherub (arm). Heavily worn gilding.

- Condition:Replacements made: Mirror plate is period to the piece although probably not original, backboards are also probably 19th Century replacements ( we have resecured them). Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Various losses, heavily worn gilding with bole showing. The whole is perfectly stable.
