This refined antique French mirror was crafted in southern France circa 1780, and exemplifies the elegant restraint of the Louis XVI period. Carved from wood and finished in its original gilt surface, the frame is adorned with crisply defined classical motifs including twisted ribbon molding, laurel garlands, floral rosettes, and an urn-form crest surmounted by floral finials. The balanced proportions and architectural detailing give the piece a timeless presence while remaining light and graceful.
The wall mirror retains its original mercury glass plate and original wooden backing, a highly desirable survival that speaks to its authenticity and quality.
