About the Item
Beautiful giltwood mirror dating from the 18th century, characteristic of the Louis XV–Louis XVI Transition period.
Its finely carved decoration elegantly combines softened Rococo scrolls, leafy garlands, ribbons and floral motifs — all hallmark elements of this transitional era, when lines became more refined while retaining the decorative richness of the ancien régime.
The crest features an elegant composition with an urn and garlands, while the frame is adorned with foliage, clusters and scrolls typical of the ornamental vocabulary of the late 18th century.
The original gilding, warm and beautifully patinated, highlights the finesse of the carving work and gives the piece an authentic and precious charm.
Very good overall condition, with a harmonious patina consistent with its age. Silvering redone / mirror replaced.
A rare and decorative piece, perfect for a classical interior, an elegant entryway, a refined living room, or a more contemporary setting seeking a sophisticated historical touch.
