19th Century American Aesthetic Movement square framed mirror with wide, flat, highly decorated flat surface. Magical details featuring three dimensional layers of intricately articulated leaves berries, edged inside out with beaded borders. "The Aesthetic Movement, also known as “art for art’s sake,” permeated British culture during the latter part of the 19th century, as well as spreading to other countries such as the United States. Based on the idea that beauty was the most essential element in life, writers, artists, and designers sought to create works of art that were admired simply for their beauty embracing a new simplicity of style.
