About the Item
Versatile and elegant, this Louis Philippe mirror could be hung either vertically or horizontally to bring timeless French charm to any interior. Crafted in the Burgundy region of France circa 1870, the antique mirror features a rectangular giltwood frame with the classic, rounded edges distinctive of the Louis Philippe period. The thick molded frame is finely engraved with delicate floral and foliate motifs throughout and retains its original gold leaf finish with soft, authentic patina.
The mirror still features its original mercury glass, offering subtle age-related sparkle and depth, while the wood backing has been replaced at a later date for stability. Newly fitted hooks have been installed on the back for secure hanging. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, this mirror’s ideal proportions make it perfect for a powder room, hallway, or bedroom.
