About the Item
A Swedish Late Gustavian mirror scraped to its original surface with remnants of original paint and gilt. Detailed carvings adorn the upper molding with overlapping stars in each corner. In the arched upper section, a woman holding a vine is flanked by a sheep and eagle with plants growing from the earth on each side. Glass is not be original and is surrounded with detailed ribbon design. Lower section has a carved wreath medallion on each side with a detailed fern-like carving with a flower petal center. Lower molding of pearl trim. Faint illegible name and writing on back. A good example of a Late Gustavian/Empire Period transitional mirror
