About the Item
This beautiful and unique mirror was made in central France in the early 20th century, circa 1910. The mirror frame features a central group of flowers flanked by two scrolls. The frame has a solid pine base smoothened with gesso. It has a grey undercoat with silver leaf gilding and it was finished with a grey-green patina to enhance its definition. The mirror plate has a geometric shape, typical for the Art Deco style. The mirror plate has a facetted edge and it is the original mirror plate. The mirror plate shows age-appropriate wear, spots, and a few superficial scratches. The mirror is suspended by the use of rope with tassels at the end. The tassels we made in a dark green thread mixed with silver thread. The mirror has authentic pine back cladding to protect the silver nitrate gilt back of the mirror.
The piece was completely and gently cleaned in our atelier. It is now clean, solid, without damage, and ready for use.
