About the Item
On offer here is an antique solid oak Henri Deux mirror that was made in northern France in the early 20th century. It was elaborately decorated with two handsome turned columns flanking the glass. Above a gadrooned frieze ending in acanthus. The mirror frame was completely made in the finest European summer oak. The mirror frame originally was finished in a dark brown color. Old layers of wax and stain were removed in our atelier and the mirror frame now shows the natural bare oak wood color. The beveled mirror glass plate is silver nitrate silvered and is authentic to the mirror. The glass shows many small pots evenly distributed among the glass and also a few larger spots. The weathered glass combines beautifully with the natural stripped oak color. A new protective back cladding was added to protect the glass. The mirror is now clean, solid, and ready for use.
