A true rarity, a diminutive gilt Eglomise /reverse painted mirror depicting the English nursery rhyme Hey diddle, diddle!.
Finely executed with gilt split column frame, with the upper-section hand painted highly detailed glass panel illustrating the children's nursery rhyme 'Hey diddle, diddle!'
'Hey diddle, diddle!
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon'
The lower part with the original inset mirror plate
