About the Item
This small French wall mirror (24 ½ x 18) features a shapely, beveled piece of glass surrounded by a well-carved oak frame. Meandering floral vines have been hand-carved in the light brown wood, with great depth, often extending beyond the edges of the frame. An arching crown consists of a cabochon set within a scalloped leaf, accompanied by a pair of elongated leaf margents dotted with flowers. The bottom of the frame has similar foliate curls that meet in the center as volutes over a leaf that is flanked by two flowers. Our French wall mirror from the 1800s can be used in any room of the house, but because of its size, it is more suited for a smaller area, such as a boudoir, hallway, or half bath.
