About the Item
A Spanish mirror, with copper-wrapped brazier surround from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This unique circular mirror which has been custom fashioned with an antique Spanish wooden brazier as the surround which has been wrapped with copper sheeting and beautifully adorn with a nail-head design, and fitted with a with new mirrored glass in it's center. The brazier (also referred to as a brasero) is a late 19th to early 20th century heating element from Spain, which once would have been used to heat a home, with a bowl with hot coals held within it's center (where the new mirror is now). The sides of the mirror project out from the wall due to the recessed-set carved pedestal legs (nicely scalloped along their feet), giving this wall decoration a depth of approximately 6" from the wall, creating visual interest when viewed from it's sides. The copper, nailheads and wood all have a nice old patina, and some minor losses (which we feel adds to the character). This custom antique Spanish brass Brasero mirror is just over 2.5 feet in diameter, making it a great, versatilely sized piece of art for your wall.
