French 18th century Provencal Transition/Louis XVI giltwood wall mirror with ribbon decoration
A giltwood frame with old mirror plate, within a mirrored border, the outset corners with acanthus leaves, the cresting with a tiny oval mirror accompanied by wineleafs and grapes and crowned by a large decorative bow, a so-called "Fontange" bow with a small flower bouquet in the center of it.

An Italian Baroque style mirror, the rectangular mirror plate set within a giltwood and facetted glass border and a further blue-glass and mirror glass border displaying arabesque ornaments painted in polychrome oil paint. The whole flanked by a scrolling foliate border and surmounted by a shaped giltwood, blue-glass and engraved panel cresting. The engraving depicts a Doge's coat of arms with the 'Corno Ducale', the ducal hat which symbolised the Doge's office.
