French 19th century wall mirror with fabulous gilt molding around the original glass, reinforced by a backboard of painted planks in a soft gray. Surrounding the original mirror plate is an understated border of patinated gold gilt (painted teal on the flat edges), which is a fine complement to the streaks of dark foxing mostly concentrated along the bottom edge.The weathered planks on the back reflect a smooth, misty gray pigment in contrast to the drama of the gold and foxed areas within the glass.
