About the Item
A French mirror, with painted wood surround and original two-piece glass, from the 19th century. This antique wall mirror from France is rectangular-shaped with linear profile about the perimeter and inner rope trim accents and a petite bead accent lines the inner surround next to the glass. The wood has an overall grey/green color with hints of brown, and a teal blue color softly highlights some of the trim accents. This piece retains its original glass, which is in two pieces (as shown in our secondary images). Interestingly, it was common for glass to be cut into smaller pieces and framed together for the illusion of one, due to a high taxation of glass during this time. This 19th century French rectangular wall mirror stands just over 4 feet in height.
