About the Item

French Geometric Designed Mid-Century mirror in anthracite-silver by Jacques Hitier, published by Marly Frères 1960s. This fantastic mirror embodies an elegant nonchalance thanks to its proportions and unique design. Anthracite-coloured mirror glass has been combined with silver-grey mirror glass and transformed into a graphic composition. The contrasting surfaces are created partly by means of the coating (oval centre field) but also by means of the insertion technique (linear surfaces) of the other colour, in this case the edges are provided with a small bevel and then joined together using a mosaic technique. The design is sophisticated and a perfect combination of style and practicality. With its clean aesthetics and handcrafted quality, this mid-century mirror offers a subtle and elegant way to enhance your home. There are slight signs of ageing to the glass but no damage to the edges and bevelled edges. Jacques Hitier (28 March 1917 – 5 March 1999) was a French interior architect and designer. He was also a director of the Paris L’École Boulle, School for Fine Arts and Crafts and Applied Arts, from 1972 to 1982. Jacques Hitier had a unique vision of aesthetics and functionality. He was known for his ability to incorporate innovative design elements while maintaining the utility of his creations. It is said that Hitier once faced a particular challenge when designing a series of mirrors: how to incorporate modern aesthetics while retaining the mirror's main function? His clever solution was to incorporate bevelled or rounded edges into the mirror itself, creating a unique shape that provided both a clear view and a distinctive visual appeal.

French Midcentury Bronze Naturalistic Designed Mirror for Lanvin Paris, 1970s
Located in Salzburg, AT
A French midcentury bronze mirror with naturalistic decoration. A poetic looking mirror with branches and leaves entwining around the frame. Playful and unevenly distributed bronze elements. Even the suspension (18 x 5cm) resembles an element from nature, a branch that quite randomly and casually on the upper frame laid down. The branches and leaves are engraved and textured the surface is colored from light to dark green with lacquer paint, giving the elements depth and naturalness. A mirror like a poem, even the back is included in the Enwturf. Painted on the back and signed by hand Ly De Rohanchault for LANVIN (the fashion label in Paris). So obviously a mirror made for a store interior or showroom for LANVIN. Lanvin or the Jeanne Lanvin S.A. is a French fashion company founded in Paris in 1889 by fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin. It is the oldest French couture fashion house to exist continuously and to this day.[1] In 2019, Lanvin celebrated its 130th anniversary. Under the Lanvin brand, high-priced prêt-à-porter fashion, accessories and perfume, each for men and women, as well as children's wear, are sold through its own network of boutiques and upscale retailers worldwide. Between 1909 and 1993, Lanvin also produced haute couture fashion for women...
