About the Item

Square mirror with double frame in brass and chrome from the 1970s by Maison Jansen. The 2.5 cm wide brass frame forms four additional squares in the corners, with the chrome-plated frame underneath. The strictly geometric format combined with two metals makes the mirror particularly decorative. The brass and chrome have already aged and have a wonderful patina, which flatters the strict expression. The mirror glass has a brown tint and appears soft against the metallic frame. An extremely decorative object that stems from the relaxed lifestyle of the 1970s. Cognac, rust and chocolate tones, fabrics with a feeling of opulence and abundance, polished stainless steel, mosaics and smoked glass. Maison Jansen was a Paris-based interior decoration office founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Jansen is considered the first truly global design firm, serving clients in Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East. This House was located at 23, rue de l'Annonciation, Paris, and closed in 1989. From its beginnings Maison Jansen combined traditional furnishings with influences of new trends including the Anglo-Japanese style, the Arts and Crafts movement, and the Turkish style. The firm paid great attention to historical research with which it attempted to balance clients' desires for livable, usable, and often dramatic space. Within ten years the firm had become a major purchaser of European antiques, and by 1890 had established an antique gallery as a separate firm that acquired and sold antiques to Jansen's clients and its competitors as well. In the early 1920s Jean-Henri Jansen approached Stéphane Boudin, who was then working in the textile trimming business owned by his father Alexandre Boudin, and brought him on board. Accounts of the arrangement vary. Speculation existed that Boudin was able to provide financial solvency to the prominent but capital-poor atelier. Boudin's attention to detail, concern for historical accuracy, and ability to create dramatic and memorable spaces brought increasing new work to the firm. Boudin was made director and presided over an expansion of the firm's offices and income.

French Midcentury Bronze Naturalistic Designed Mirror for Lanvin Paris, 1970s
Located in Salzburg, AT
A French midcentury bronze mirror with naturalistic decoration. A poetic looking mirror with branches and leaves entwining around the frame. Playful and unevenly distributed bronze elements. Even the suspension (18 x 5cm) resembles an element from nature, a branch that quite randomly and casually on the upper frame laid down. The branches and leaves are engraved and textured the surface is colored from light to dark green with lacquer paint, giving the elements depth and naturalness. A mirror like a poem, even the back is included in the Enwturf. Painted on the back and signed by hand Ly De Rohanchault for LANVIN (the fashion label in Paris). So obviously a mirror made for a store interior or showroom for LANVIN. Lanvin or the Jeanne Lanvin S.A. is a French fashion company founded in Paris in 1889 by fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin. It is the oldest French couture fashion house to exist continuously and to this day.[1] In 2019, Lanvin celebrated its 130th anniversary. Under the Lanvin brand, high-priced prêt-à-porter fashion, accessories and perfume, each for men and women, as well as children's wear, are sold through its own network of boutiques and upscale retailers worldwide. Between 1909 and 1993, Lanvin also produced haute couture fashion for women...
